The Top 5 Traits of Successful Estheticians

Have you ever wondered what it is that allows for one Esthetician to be wildly successful with amazing clients while another Esthetician with the same training and skills struggles to find enough clients to stay in business?

When you think about it, we all go to Esthy School and receive the same basic training, so what is it that makes such a big difference?

This is a question that I happen to know a thing or two about and you might be surprised by what I have found the big game-changers to be.

1. A successful esthetician knows that a positive attitude is a must – 100% OF THE TIME.

Here’s what you need to know…

Energy is contagious and it affects everyone around us.

In this profession, or any profession where one is working in a close, intimate environment with their clients, it matters more than ever. When your client leaves your treatment room, the mood they walk out with will be reflective of the energy experience you shared with them. Sharing positive, happy vibes is just as important as “good extractions” during your deep pore cleansing facial.

2. A successful esthetician invests in continued self-growth.

Sure, result-based equipment and amazing product lines are a big part of the successful esthy equation, but investing in your own growth is even more valuable to your business. When you invest your growth as a person, that experience will have a ripple effect throughout all areas of your life. It makes perfect sense…

When you become better as a person, everything you touch is better too.

Just as you’d invest in expanding your esthy knowledge and skills to have more to offer your clients, learning how to work through the limiting beliefs that hold you back will help you climb to even higher levels of success than you ever dreamed possible.

3. A successful esthetician surrounds themselves with like-minded supportive peeps.

There’s a saying I’ve heard that says, “we are roughly as successful as the 5 people we chose to spend the most time with.”

Success will find you faster if you surround yourself with encouraging people who challenge you to show up like a rock star.

I know many Estheticians who feel scared or intimidated to hang out with fellow estheticians. They view them as the competition rather than supportive peers who they can learn from. I feel this is a mistake on many levels. No one will understand your business better than a fellow esthy so how about we all support one another? We live in an abundant world and there’s plenty of business for all of us.

4. A successful esthetician runs on time.

This is HUGE! I can’t even tell you how many clients I’ve gained simply because they were fed up with their former beauty biz practitioner who chose not run on time.

The argument I hear most often here is that we’re only human and sometimes things happen. While that is true, what I find most often is that those who run late USUALLY run late – it’s not a rare one off thing.

Running late is a lack of respect for yourself and the person waiting on you.

People are busy and their time is valuable – respect their time and you will create a very loyal clientele and more referrals for yourself.

5. A successful esthetician realizes becoming an ultimate client attraction magnet requires moving outside their comfort zone… on a regular basis.

Here’s my truth… Every single time I have reached a new level of success it has required me to do something that felt scary and exciting at the same time.

Examples: Investing in my 1st business coach, purchasing a VERY expensive piece of equipment right before Christmas last year, walking up to a news anchor at a bar and telling her I would love to do a beauty segment with her… you get the picture.
