When I was a little girl (probably 5 years old), I remember lying in the grass and looking up at the sky. I wondered if the beautiful vibrant blue I was looking at was the same blue other people could see.

I still do this! I have always been mesmerized by a bright blue sky.

And…

As I get older and gain wisdom, I am positive that we don’t all see the “same blue”.

Let me share an example of how different one perception compared to another can be…

I recently attended the Las Vegas Trade show.

I LOVE gaining knowledge and I LOVE sharing it with my fellow beauty biz practitioners.

I decided to post a picture of me getting a super cool new mascara applied to my lashes. I was so excited because within 60 seconds I looked like I had lash extensions.

I wanted to share this info with those who couldn’t make the show because I just knew it would help many of them claim more retail sales in their biz.

Well…

I posted the photo on Facebook and within minutes people were sharing comments. Here are a few:

• The sore on your face is gross. *BTW it’s a mole in my eyebrow that I was born with that has never really bothered me.
• Your lashes look awful… like spider legs.
• You have a typo in your post.

There were more not-so-nice comments that I will not mention.

Jay, my fiancé, saw the post and said, “Lori take it down, these people clearly don’t understand that you are trying to help them and this is just plain mean.”

Now, this didn’t ruin my day as I have learned not to let others steal my joy. I was excited about this mascara and I have been selling it like crazy at my spa. 🙂

But…

I do want to share the experience with you in hopes that I can help you see a more beautiful vibrant blue sky in your everyday world.

So…

Instead of looking at something with a negative and judgmental perception, why not look at your daily experiences and ask yourself:

“How can I learn from this experience and use it to create something positive in my life?”

Chances are that by asking yourself this a few times a day you will shift your energy to a more positive and productive place.
