Where are your opportunities hiding?

possibilitiesDo you know where your opportunities are hiding?

When working with my private 1:1 coaching clients, I encourage them to make a list of 20 opportunities that are available to them now.

This assignment often creates a lot of (as my grandma Gert would say), “hemming and hawing.”

It goes about like this…

Coaching Client:

“Lori, I don’t have any opportunities available to me. Why the heck do you think I invested in coaching with you? I DON’T have any opportunities, DUH!”

Me:

“Yes you do. We all have opportunities available to us, it’s just that sometimes we need someone to push us so we see them and become open to receiving them.”

Here’s the truth about opportunities:

Opportunities will not show up at your front door in a beautifully gift-wrapped box. You have to recognize them when they are presented to you.

Opportunities often show up in the form of chaos, disappointment and they can even show up as a tragedy.

This awareness slapped me in the face on 9/11/01. September 11th was what I call my “saddest luckiest day” because it was a day that broke my heart, but it was also what lead me to this amazing beauty biz industry that I love so much.

Opportunities will most likely trigger a fear within you. At first you will think you are not ready, not good enough, not smart enough, or you don’t have enough money to go for it.

If a potential opportunity keeps popping up in your mind, but you can’t detach from the fear associated with it, I would recommend looking at the fear as a good thing. Look at it, like this…

Feeling
Excited
And
Ready

And know this… Even small opportunities will often lead to bigger opportunities.

An example of this was 10 years ago when I got a call to do a TV show for $100 for the day. I almost said “no” because I didn’t think this was enough money, but I said “yes” and the location where we filmed, later became my spa.

==> Opportunities are abundant!

My hope is that reading this triggers you to recognize the opportunities that have been right under your nose.

My hope is also that you will put on your beauty biz bravery hat and step into the opportunity with a success mindset.

And, my hope is that you will share (here in the comments below) all the fun and exciting things that the discovered opportunities bring you.

Here’s to awareness, discovery & abundance!
