Power in Numbers – This includes you!

Recently there’s been a lot of commotion around what we are and are not allowed to perform as an esthetician.

Shoot… who I am trying to kid, there has always been a lot of commotion around this – right?!

The latest “hot topic” is that we are not allowed to use LED light treatments as esthys in the state of CA. This “regulation”, “rule” (whatever you want to call it) really stinks, as some of us own $1,000.00 worth of this type of equipment – and now what?

How come we can’t perform something that our clients can buy over the counter at Walmart?

Great question!

But here’s an even better question… How can we change this?

Power in numbers and supporting each other is really the answer.

We Need To Be SEEN & HEARD!

Here’s what you can do to make a difference:

1. Sign this petition, forward it to everyone you know, post it on facebook, tweet it out there and ask others to do the same. It doesn’t matter where you live… offer your support because California is often a trend setting state and what happens here now can affect you and your business in the future.

2. State board is now offering meetings and there is one coming up in San Diego on Oct. 21st. Attending these and voicing your opinion is a sure way to create a positive change.

*** Monday Oct. 21st at 10am at the Courtyard Marriott 595 Hotel Circle South

3. Get on your State Board’s facebook page as this will help you stay up-to-date on the happenings.

Here’s a link to CA’s.

Cathy Christensen, the editor in chief from Skin Inc. Magazine, and I had a conversation last week and she shared what I believe was a very important message for all estheticians. I will share a summery of her words with you:

1. “Estheticians need to regularly check their cosmetology board’s website and be aware of the changes and happenings as YOUR PROFITS CAN BE TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU IN SECONDS.”

2. “There is power in numbers and I have seen major changes take place when estheticians show up and let the board know that they care.”

Thanks for taking the time to read and play your part.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could make a change and start to receive help, guidance and support from the State Board instead of being terrified of them… Hey I wish big 🙂 and anything is possible!

Here’s to universal support and positive change that allows us to flourish as professionals.
