confusionGetting Clients and Losing Weight… you wouldn’t expect there to be anything connecting those two things, would you?

Read on my beauty biz friend, I’ll tell you how they are connected.

Now a disclaimer here… I am not a nutritionist or dietitian by any means, but my significant other, Jay is so this type of conversation enters my world quite a bit.

Over the years I have noticed that getting clients and losing weight have a few things in common.

1. Goals have to be set.

Whether it’s losing 10 pounds or gaining 5 new clients, it’s best to create clarity around the objective. You have to know where you are going.

Writing down what you want gives you clarity, and clarity removes chaos and overwhelm.

2. An uncomplicated plan of action will help you achieve your weight loss and getting new client goals much faster.

Once you have clear goals in place, write down your P.O.A (plan of action).

List 3 simple things you can do right now to help create what you want.

You will often find it’s the simple things that create BIG changes in your life.

Example:

Getting Clients:

  1. Asking Existing clients for referrals
  2. Hand out 2 business cards at the gym
  3. Volunteer at a local charity event

Losing Weight:

  1. Cut out bread for 1 wk
  2. Weigh in weekly to motivate
  3. Go to the gym 2x more pr/wk

3. Both liposuction and daily deals are an instant gratification approach.

The speedy approach does help right away, but if you don’t change old habits chances are you will gain the weight back and likewise… you will not retain the new “deal hoping” clients.

Instant gratification is something our society has started overly longing for and relying on, and it very rarely pays off.

* Think about the client that comes to you and is upset when his/her acne doesn’t disappear after 1 facial. The fact is that instant gratification is not a realistic way to move towards long-term success.

4. Slow and steady is the best way to approach losing weight and gaining clients.

Celebrate the two pounds you lost last week and celebrate the two new clients that you got last month.

Create some *inspired action by jotting down what you did to accomplish these results and then focus on doing more of what worked.

There you have it. The dots are nicely connected. This Virgo is happy 🙂

Hi Lori,I am setting weight loss goals and goals to provide a better facial experience for my clients. I work at an upscale resort Spa and recently have had some health issues that have had negative impact on both my work and weight. As an esthetician of 30 plus years I find this very disheartening. (I am seeing a specialist today)When I get some answers and hopefully remedies I will share my weight loss and performance progress with you, thanks for the article! Kathie B
