Why These Stats Tick Me Off!

I recently stumbled across several articles mentioning the “cons of being a beauty biz practitioner.”

They were written many years ago, and you can imagine my dismay when I realized that not much has changed over time.

It seems many are stuck in a model that just isn’t working… feeling like a hamster on a wheel, loving their craft, but struggling to get by.

The majority of people who go into this profession will last less than 2 years. This is very unfortunate but true. Simply put, they couldn’t make it work. – Celebrity Esthetician, Renee Rouleau

Read on for more shocking stats, but don’t stress — just take it all in – at the end of the article, I will share exactly how you can join me on a mission to create massive change – because you deserve to be financially rewarded for doing what you love.

On Renee Rouleau’s website, there’s an article written back in 2009 and updated in 2014, here are the highlights (although, “low” lights is probably a more appropriate term)…

  • The majority of people who go into this profession will last less than 2 years.
  • The demand for skin services can be hugely impacted by an economic downturn.
  • It can take years to build a clientele.
  • Often you’re left on our own to figure it out – with no support.
  • You may have to bring your own clientele. Depending on the place you work, you may be required to bring your own clients with you, if they haven’t done the work for you. This can be very challenging since for most estheticians, their number one difficulty is not having enough clients.

Then over on EvergreenBeauty.edu, they point out some of the same “cons” along with these challenges:

  • Numerous skin care establishments can increase your competition, driving away prospective clients.
  • You must be willing to give up your nights and weekends. Most people work during the day, so you have to be available when your clients need you to be.
  • No matter how stressful or frustrating your day is, you must always wear a smile on your face. This can be challenging during difficult times in your life.

On alot.com, they report…

  • Although there are plenty of jobs, the pay isn’t great – especially for those entry-level positions that are easier to find. The median salary is around $30,000 a year.
  • It isn’t an easy job – there’s lots of standing and walking necessitated by the nature of the work.
  • Although the hours are often very flexible, they’re likely going to be long, and weekends are often a requirement, as that’s when people have the time to go and get such services.

And TripSavvy.com reports…

  • The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that skin care specialists made a median wage of $14.47 an hour in 2015. The highest-paid 10 percent in the profession earned more than $29.49 an hour, while the lowest-paid 10% earned less than $8.80.

None of this paints a pretty picture for those of us in, or entering, the industry, does it?

It all makes me frustrated – and a little angry too – because I know that many beauty biz and wellness practitioners are believing and facing these same challenges so many years later.

AND, the part that got me so fired up is that I KNOW it doesn’t have to be this way!

Now, I’m not sharing all of this to bum you out… it’s quite the opposite really!

For the last 5 years, I have been on a serious mission to change the face of the beauty industry by leading practitioners to financial freedom.

Through my coaching, success training programs, and my various facebook groups and pages, beauty practitioners have been learning:

  • competition isn’t scary
  • they have no limits except the ones they set themselves
  • they can earn WAY more than any industry standards or norms and they NEVER HAVE TO BE IN THE LOWEST 10% OF ANYTHING!
  • that they can reach six-figures and beyond if they want (and many of them are!)
  • they can work when they want – and with whom they desire
  • that working smarter is a much better option than working harder
  • and so much more!

And now the “thing” that I’ve been working so hard on has come together in The Beauty Biz Club™ – a Professional Success Based Society designed BY a Beauty Biz Practitioner to support professionals in the Beauty and Healing Arts industries.

If you love what you do and are longing to do better, then I invite you to join me in my mission to create massive change – because you deserve to be financially rewarded for doing what you love. The Beauty Biz Club™ supports you in having it.

I know that when a practitioner is given the right tools, the right direction, AND the right support, they can FLOURISH in this amazingly abundant industry! The Beauty Biz Club™ puts you in a positive environment designed to answer your questions, guide you along your way, and help remove the fear, overwhelm and roadblocks that hold you back.

If you are in this profession for the long haul then being a part of a success based society specifically for your industry can make your journey far more rewarding, successful and satisfying for you than going at it all alone.
