Your Biz Under The Mag Lamp – Time to Assess…

Do you ever stop and assess how you are operating your beauty biz?

*This pertains to you whether you are an owner, renter, commission based or hourly practitioner, because no matter what your situation is… the treatment room should always be viewed as your business.

When I was a flight attendant we had pretty intense training on exactly what to do (god forbid) if we had to deal with an airplane emergency.  There were very specific step-by-step systems in place that were ingrained in our brains through out the initial training (which we called, “Barbie Boot Camp”), and then we had “recurrent” training every year (we had to revisit these systems often).

One of the teachings that I recall hearing over and over again was, “look around and assess the situation”.  This was always step 1, and then you made the “best” decision on what to do next from this point.

So how does this pertain to our success as beauty biz peeps?

If we take the time to STOP for a moment and really look around, we can see a few things:

1. What can be improved or updated?

Does your wax pot need a good cleaning or does it need to be replaced?  Have you looked at the underside of your mag lamp lately?  Could you be more consistent with your blog or newsletter campaign?   How are your sheets and towels holding up?  Clients do notice these things!

2. What is working that we can do more of?

I see far too many of us getting caught up in the “bright shiny object syndrome”.  We think that we need to spend $ on every new tool that hits the market.  Bringing “new stuff” into our biz is an awesome way to grow, but often we already have what we need, we just aren’t communicating consistently with our clients to let them know all the goodies we have available.

Make a list of the equipment that is collecting dust and send out a newsletter or make a few facebook posts expressing the results you offer with this amazing machine!

3. Where am I taking the path of least resistance and how can I change this?

We are all guilty of this in some area of our life, aren’t we?

And…

It really doesn’t serve us in any way, does it?

Time to assess where you could be devoting a little more effort in your quest for success.

Make your “I know I need to” list here:

1.

2.

3.

Now what action steps will you take to move through what’s stopping you?
